Easy and Excellent Joomla Backend Security Plugin

When you use Joomla CMS to build your site, it is important that you have your back-end secured; otherwise, it would not be hard for an advance user to intrude into your back-end. So, to make it more secure, what are we gonna do?

I have been using one plugin that basically will help you make your website secure. The name of the plugin is called JSecure. It is not free; however, if you are lucky and patient to surf for the download link on the internet, you can get a shared one. I personally always surf for the free one. However, if you want to save time and want to make it sure, you can spend about $10 for that plugin.

Basically, what this plugin does is just doubling the pass point. By default, when you login to your back-end, you will have to go http://yourdomain.com/administrator. However if you use this plugin, you have to go through http://yourdomain.com/administrator/?XXXX; whereas, XXXX is the letters that you set up. So, only those who know XXXX will get access to the login page. Therefore, this plugin doubles your security.

Build your website using Joomla CMS Step#1

Joomla is the hardest and most complicated tool compare to WordPress and Blog. However, this is beneficial for those who have a lot of data and users information to manage. It has so many files and folders and more JavaScript and CSS files which in turn will slow your website loading time unless you have a good and reliable web hosting with more space and bandwidth capacity. Additionally, you must also know how to compress those JavaScript and CSS files in order to make the loading time faster. Anyway, that's not supposed to hinder you from learning how to use Joomla; still, you can learn how to use it. I myself do not know coding and have never learned that before but I am in a position to share with you the magic how to do it! Just follow the simple step!

Introduction of Creating a Website using Joomla CMS

I will introduce you about Joomla a little bit before I talk about the pros and cons, and the recommendation. Joomla CMS is a open source of content management system for building a website. It is a framework to build a website in it. All the source packages are available at Joomla.org. Unlike the Blogger.com, you can download the files and change it whatever suitable for your need; however it's not simple. Anyway, Joomla CMS is the most popular open source platform to establish a powerful website.

Even though Joomla is the most popular open source content management system, there are quite considerable drawbacks while it also has some great features. And it needs a little bit of coding skills, I mean just knowing basic things so that you can make some amendments for your websites. Anyway, I will jump into the listing of the advantages and disadvantages of using Joomla now.

Advantages of using Joomla to build your website:
  • The package is Free since it is open source
  • Full features of content management
  • Can do things more than Blogger.com and Wordpress
  • Available plugins to boost your SEO
  • You can create E-commerce, Forum, Chats, Social Network, etc...
  • You can manage your users sufficiently
  • Tidy sections and categories management
  • A lot of helps when you have a problem since many people use it
Disadvantages of using Joomla to build your website:
  • Need to buy web hosting (i.e compare of Blogger.com)
  • A lot of folders and files, sometimes it seems so clumsy
  • Using CSS and Javascript which may slower your website's loading
  • Some plugins, components are not free
  • Templates, themes are not free (i.e except some premiums templates which are shared on internet)
  • It's uneasy to change the appearance of template (i.e you may need to hire a developer)
My recommendation if you are suitable for Joomla or not. Choose Joomla if:
  • You have a lot of contents and users to manage
  • You are doing it at least a small business level
  • You have all the financial that maybe incurred
  • You are in a position to hire someone when it is out of your control
  • If you are going to build it yourself, at least make sure you understand the coding language, if not at professional
It sounds Joomla is quite big and complicated, right? But I will tell you, it's not that complicated if you just want to try it out and just want to experience it. Or you just want to have a personal website with Joomla. It's not hard if you do not have a lot of users and contents to manage. If you want to try it out, I am having the step by step tutorials for you both in written and videos. Additionally, I also have a list of suggested web hosting which are affordable, do check them out! Sometimes, in order to have great experience, you do need some investment. Hope you are inspired to try Joomla out!
